Sandcastle Builder
Role(s): All
Sandcastle Builder was created as a multi-layered interactive installation that invited visitors to explore how digital creative tools both expand and constrain our imagination.
The experience centered on a custom-built tabletop screen where users could design and build their own digital sandcastle. Grounded in the context of many physical sandboxes, it posed the question: what does it mean to create in a bounded digital space, versus the open-ended play of a physical sandbox?
I was responsible for all aspects of the project—concepting, visual design, game programming, and engineering the physical installation table from the ground up. The work became part of a broader exhibit exploring sandboxes' enduring role in education, from their early adoption in progressive pedagogy to their presence in contemporary digital learning environments.
